The Afterschool Alliance created Lights On Afterschool to show the nation the many ways that afterschool programs enrich students’ lives. This year’s celebration marks Lights On Afterschool’s 19th year of raising awareness for afterschool programs. More than 8,000 events across the nation and one million Americans will be emphasizing the importance of keeping the lights on and the doors open after school.

It’s not too late to join in the festivities. Check out the Lights On Afterschool’s website for last minute ideas. You can find a local celebration, color light bulbs to hang as decorations, or take the Lightbulb Challenge like we did. Involve your community, engage with parents and children, raise awareness to all the wonderful things that your program does.
